Lieutenant Colonel Or Ben-Yehuda (photo 1) led her unit to a military base near the community of Sufa after reports of heavily armed Hamas infiltrators. The unit arrived at the military base to find that Hamas had raided a post and taken more than 50 Israeli soldiers hostage.

A four-hour battle ensued between the female battalion and Hamas before Marine commandos came to their aid. It took a total of 14 hours to clear the base.

Lieutenant Colonel Ben-Yehuda stated that the outcome was proof that there are "no more doubts about women soldiers."

Lieutenant Colonel Ben-Yehuda highly praised the "significant contribution" of her soldiers in the victory and the elimination of around 100 Hamas fighters.
