Oct 19, 2023

Hundreds of protesters held a rally on Capitol Hill and entered the office building of the U.S. House of Representatives, urging the Biden administration to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The protesters wore black shirts with slogans such as "Jews Demand an End to the Fire" and "Not in Our Name," while holding signs that read "Ceasefire" and "Let Gaza Live."

According to law enforcement, the protesters initially entered the building legally, but were warned that any demonstrations inside Congress were prohibited. However, the demonstrators did not heed the warnings, and arrests ensued.

Preliminary reports indicate that approximately 300 people were detained, with three protesters facing charges of assaulting law enforcement.

As reported by CBS, the action for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was organized by the anti-Israel group Jewish Voice for Peace.
